In an increasingly globalized world there is much that still remains invisible to others. Via the Internet we have more data available than ever before, but we do not always know all that much more beyond what is happening right around us. “Over My Eyes” allows us, in significant ways, to begin to correct that.
(From the Foreword to the book by Fred Ritchin)
OVER MY EYES presents contemporary Iraq through the eyes of a young generation of documentary photographers who take the audience on a visual journey of discovery through their country.
With unprecedented access and knowledge of the local environment the photographers bring us closer to their land, its people, their stories and to a life that goes on in spite of the war.
As the conflict keeps on ravaging the country, these young photographers bring us a more complex point of view, showing us what daily life is and feels like in a region which we are used to know only through images of war.
